Energy networks comment on Prime Minister's green investment announcement

21 July 2020

The Prime Minister is announcing almost £350 million being made available to help cut emissions from heavy industry, construction and transport.

David Smith, Chief Executive of Energy Networks Association, which is the voice of the UK’s energy networks, said:

“The Prime Minister’s commitment is a boost for new technologies and infrastructure and will help keep the UK in pole position in the international hydrogen race. Hydrogen supports decarbonisation of the whole energy system including zero carbon transport alongside electric vehicles. Moving from natural gas to hydrogen will kickstart the decarbonisation of heavy industry, creating jobs and helping gas go green.”
